Kurti Kurti can be defined as a shirt-like garment, with most of the features of a kurta (qv), but often worn a little shorter. When worn by women, it is defined as a short bodice reaching to the hips, with very short, if any, sleeves, open under the throat. `Young college going females wear kurtis with Jeans and Trousers. Kurtis create and enhance the personality of woman in general. Kurtis not only give comfort but also enhance the outlook of the Indian female. Shorter version of kurtis are more popular with girls. Cotton kurtis are available in the price range of Rupees 100 or above.

The more modern and hip Kurti`s is also replacing the tops. Kurti is a improvisation of the old kurta and a regular top. Embroidered kurtis are also very popular for girl`s in India. The Indian kurtis have made an impact in the global fashion world.Today indian girls wear a scarf, stole over kurtis which not only provides comfort but the dress looks elegant and exquisite. Indian embroidered kurtis, lucknowi kurtis, sequins and kundan kurtis and kurtas are very popular form of dress with indian females.

Western culture, it is used as religious uniform but from last few years when Indian short length "Kameez" or "Kurtis" got popularity in western society so sometime it is also known as Indian Tunic or Indian Kurtis.
